Cathodic Protection Design, Installation and Service
Cathodic Protection is the most effective means to control metal deterioration.
Steel underground storage tanks (UST), piping, swing joints and flex connectors that are in contact with soil can be subject to corrosion and thus deteriorate and possibly create a catastrophic leak. By utilizing direct current electricity to reduce corrosive action, cathodic protection effectively controls metal deterioration by making the tank/pipe the cathode of a typical electrochemical cell.
Federal regulations require a qualified corrosion expert design cathodic protection systems installed at a UST site. At Tanknology, we employ NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) certified engineers to design and review cathodic protection systems. Our staff of NACE certified, state-licensed, corrosion personnel are recognized experts contributing to technical committees, NACE, and American Petroleum Institute seminars as well as providing valuable input to federal and state regulatory agencies.
Federal regulations further require that, if you have an impressed current system, you must inspect the system every 60 days to verify its proper operation. Records must be maintained of all system tests and inspections.
You can rely on Tanknology to:
Perform feasibility surveys to determine suitability of
system installation
Design and engineer the most cost effective system
Perform a thorough Assessment Survey, per regulatory
requirements, to evaluate USTs for corrosion damage on tanks
Upon design of the ideal system for your site, we will:
Install a complete cathodic protection system, tailored specifically
to your site’s requirements
Commission the system, including final testing and adjustments,
as needed
Train the owner and operators on system operation and ongoing
regulatory requirements
Perform regular maintenance, including periodic testing and
necessary adjustments
Generate requisite Corrosion Control Reports
Remote Monitoring for Effortless Compliance
and Peace-of-Mind
Upon installation of your complete impressed current Cathodic protection system, we can also customize a remote monitoring program by using Automatic Rectifier Compliance (ARC), our wireless communication device that utilizes state-of-the-art data transmission technology to communicate system data.
