Secondary Containment Testing
Tanknology offers Secondary Containment System Testing as part of its wide array of petroleum service offerings.
California regulations SB989 require secondary containment testing at all new sites upon installation, within 6 months after installation and every 36 months thereafter. All existing sites were required to be tested prior to December 31, 2002 and every 36 months since that date.
Secondary containment systems provide protection from releases from underground storage tank (UST) systems. Leaking sumps, piping, dispenser pans, and spill buckets could result in product being released into the environment, causing gasoline to contaminate drinking water. Testing of secondary containment ensures any potential release will be contained thus providing sound risk management as well as environmental compliance.
Tanknology utilizes precision testing methods that meet tank, piping and sump manufacturer requirements. By utilizing Tanknology's innovative approach to testing secondary containment systems, tank owners will realize the following benefits:
- Minimal Site Downtime - Most sites can be tested in several hours, with minimal station shutdown required.
- Minimal Site Waste - Using proprietary systems and equipment, Tanknology is able to greatly reduce the amount of wastewater generated during testing.
- Single Site Visit - Some other methods require a second site visit after 24 hours to ensure no water level change has occurred. Tanknology can test most sites in a single visit.
